Snowstorm

I'm sure most of you have heard about the blizzard in Denver. Because of that lovely storm we had to miss Brenna (Bret's sister) and JP's wedding, which we were very sad about. Congratulations to them!
I have not seen so much snow for a very long time. Following are several pictures of the fun we've had in the snow, because we couldn't go anywhere. We also had our Christmas early because we were planning to fly to Utah Thursday, so there are a few pictures of the kids playing with some of the fun things they got.

Casrson was so proud of this tower he built.

Bret decided to take all his scrubs to the basement to store them because he doesn't use them anymore. Before he got them down there, the boys decided to try them on.

Brandon is trying to pull a shirt sleeve over his leg.

Cereal or oatmeal end up on Brandon's head way more often than I would like.
Doesn't he look pleased with himself?

Carson got this cool bike for Christmas and is practicing his riding skills in our unfinished basement. He's gotten pretty good at it, too.

Brandon got this cool car for Christmas. The boys got pretty good at steering around each other.

This is Bret building a snow cave.

Kind of a boring picture, but you can see how much snow there was. The cement wasn't shoveled. There was so much wind that this spot never got much snow, while against the house the drifts are about 3 ft. tall.

As you can see, the drifts are almost as tall as Carson. His friend Ethan with him in the picture, lives next door.

Carson and Brandon inside the snow cave Daddy and Carson built.

Bret did a lot of work to get the driveway clean.

Love the snow!

The snow sliding of the roof looked pretty neat. The picture just doen't do it justice.

Brandon thought it would be fun to go for a ride in the stroller.

That's about as far as it will go.

Sad face-I really want a ride, guys!

On top of the pile. Bret decided to make another snow cave inside of this mountain of snow later on.

Bret decided it would be really fun to see how far he could get out of the driveway before he got stuck. He didn't get very far, but he fun doing it.

Close up of on top of the snow mountain. When he stood up, he was taller than the garage door.

Our garage is behind our house on a road that his used to get to a middle school and a park. Since school is out, our road is the very last one to get plowed. We cleared this entire road by hand all by ourselves. Let me just say, Bret and I are extremely sore today.

These last three pictures are out of order. Off to the left of Carson his the beginning of our driveway. We cleared down this road and around the corner to the stop sign. Whew!! Bret also helped dig out several people when they got stuck on the road if front of our house. The road was awful. We saw three snow plows go by and they took off maybe an inch when they went by. There was still another foot and half underneath. Cars kept getting high centered! One snow plow dumped the snow he had in his scoop in the middle of an intersection. As you may have noticed, I was really bitter. Our car was one that got high-centered because of the guy.

Anyways, despite missing a wedding and a family party and having to deal with the inconvenience of having to reschedule our flight, we have enjoyed being together as a family this last couple days. We've played out in the snow a lot and have spent more time together than we have for a very long time. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. Hopefully we'll be able to see a lot of you over the next week or so.
